Welcome KHS Classmates of '65
The KHS Class of 1965 Reunion Committee is proud to announce the establishment of the KHS Class of ’65 Scholarship Fund.
Following our memorable 60th Class Reunion, it was decided that this gathering would mark our final formal reunion. In the spirit of celebrating our shared history and giving back to future generations, the Reunion Committee carefully considered how best to use the remaining funds collected over the years.
Thanks to the generosity of many classmates—both from prior reunions and special contributions made for our 60th reunion to ensure all who wished could attend—we were fortunate to have a meaningful balance remaining. It was unanimously agreed that these funds should be used to create a lasting legacy.
To bring this vision to life, a Scholarship Team was formed, led by Pat Olsson, with team members Mark Riseley, Carol Schaff (Knapp), John Quick, and Paul Mercier. Their thoughtful work and dedication made this initiative possible.
As a result, the KHS Class of 1965 Reunion Committee has established three $1,000 scholarships to be awarded to deserving graduating seniors of KHS over the next three years.
This year, the Scholarship Team reviewed more than 31 qualified applications (from over 41 total submissions, with ten received after the stated deadline). After careful consideration, the team selected John Purvis as this year’s scholarship recipient. John achieved an outstanding 4.0 GPA and is ranked 49th in a class of 414 students.
These scholarships are intended to recognize students who exemplify the values we hold dear: perseverance, community involvement, and a commitment to their future goals.
We are honored to support the next generation of KHS graduates and to leave a legacy that reflects the spirit and generosity of the Class of 1965.
Congratulations to John Purvis, and thank you to all who applied.
A word of advice:
Forsake foolishness and live, and go in the way of understanding.
Our classmate, John Quick, will have the honor of presenting the scholarship.
